The Prison of Want…

I heard this quote recently and it really intrigued me…

Think about it…

How many times in my life have been through this prison? too many.

It is too easy to let the “things” of this world become the ultimate and instead of the pursuit of God be the ultimate.

Let’s learn to be content, and keep our priorities straight.

This Is Our God…

After such a powerful and life-changing series, Empty Promises, I can hardly wait for this new series!

A Little Rest & Relaxation…

I am heading home for the next few days…I am excited. Fall in New Hampshire is the best time of the year for sure…I love it!

I will be able to see family, my gf, and a bunch of my friends, all of whom I miss dearly.

Also I will get to be a part of the worship team at my church on Sunday and even play a special. :)

This will be a nice break considering I just had one of the most craziest and hectic weeks in a looong time.

I’m looking forward to some R & R… and like this little guy, a nap.

What are your weekend plans?

Humbly Liberated…

I read this verse recently that really hit me hard. I am both humbled and convicted yet liberated.

I think I’m right where I should be…face down looking up.

“Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God. God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.”   1 Cor. 1:27-30 (NLT)

Here is The Message translation:

Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.”

Empty Promises… (wk. 4)

Another powerful (and convicting) message from this series.

This has been truly a life-changing message for me and I hope you are getting something out of it yourself.

Here is the video reviewing last week:

Some Recent Fun…

I just had a great night of fun engineering a project in REM Studio A at Belmont.

Quite an opportunity to get to use such nice and legendary equipment…I’m blessed!

What have you done that was fun lately?

Empty Promises… (wk. 3)

This series has been quite remarkable…I have been challenged every single week to take a look inside myself and examine some of the “empty promises” that I’ve bought in to.

Here is a re-cap from week three. I would strongly encourage going HERE to listen/watch this series for the next few weeks…it will be life-changing!

Rest[less]…

“You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.” St. Augustine (Confessions)

I have been a little overwhelmed as of late. Life has gotten real busy and stressful and I find that during these times its easy to give up things and compromise of things…like rest. Both physically and spiritually.

We need rest.

I have found peace lately and rest lately because of the St. Augustine quote above. The only pursuit that will lend my weary heart rest and peace is the pursuit of Jesus Christ. I have to constantly remind myself that.

I hope these two songs bring your heart some peace and rest as you listen.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

I sought a way to gain the strength which I needed to enjoy you.  But I did not find it until I embraced the mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who is above all, God blessed for ever.  He was calling me and saying: I am the way of truth, I am the life.  He was offering the food which I lacked the strength to take, the food he had mingled with our flesh.  For the Word became flesh, that your wisdom, by which you created all things, might provide milk for us children.

Late have I loved you, O Beauty ever ancient, ever new, late have I loved you!  You were within me, but I was outside, and it was there that I searched for you.  In my unloveliness I plunged into the lovely things which you created.  You were with me, but I was not with you.  Created things kept me from you; yet if they had not been in you they would not have been at all. You called, you shouted, and you broke through my deafness.  You flashed, you shone, and you dispelled my blindness.  You breathed your fragrance on me; I drew in breath and now I pant for you.  I have tasted you, now I hunger and thirst for more.  You touched me, and I burned for your peace. [excerpt from Confession by St. Augustine]

Empty Promises… (wk. 2)

This series has been incredible…I mean seriously incredible.

Here is a re-cap from week two. I would strongly encourage going HERE to listen/watch this series for the next few weeks…it will be life-changing!

What’s My Sentence?…

I recently watched this little video and it got me thinking…I hope it does the same for you.

I am not necessarily endorsing anything/anyone here, but I do like the concept of thinking about our impact and legacy on people and on this life. We were created with a purpose and we need to seek that out and understand it. Once we do, we can be so much more effective in carrying out our purpose.

So I ask again… What’s your sentence?
