“If we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, rolling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased.” ~C.S. Lewis
I think is an incredibly true quote. As I grow in my faith and start to understand the awesome grace that we have received from Christ, I am realizing just how far too easily we are pleased. Honestly, as Christians, I feel we settle for second best too often. We believe too many lies and pursue too many empty promises from the world about success, fulfillment, happiness, etc.
God makes some incredible promises to us and it’s up to us to truly believe Him. Do we really believe that God has something better for us than what the world can offer us? If your answer is yes, then it’s time to start knowing those promises, confessing them, and believing that they are real for your life.
No more settling for second best. It’s time to truly believe that promised of God are for us today and enjoy them.
Don’t be too easily pleased. Be picky in this area.
Only accept the best!
